STEP BY STEP

How to create a QR code for Google reviews

Reviews on Google influence where your business shows up in local search and Google Maps. A QR code removes the hardest step for customers: finding your listing and the review button.

1

Get your review link

Sign in to your Google Business Profile, open “Read reviews” or “Ask for reviews” and copy the short link. Alternatively, look up your Place ID with Google’s Place ID Finder.

2

Create the code

Choose the Google review type, paste the link or Place ID and pick a design. A frame with a caption like “Review us on Google” tells customers what the code does.

3

Place it where people are happy

The best moment to ask is right after a good experience: at the checkout counter, on the table with the check, on receipts, invoices, packaging inserts and thank-you cards.

Follow the review rules

Google does not allow incentives for reviews, so do not offer discounts or freebies in exchange. Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, because filtering who gets asked (review gating) also breaks Google’s policies. The FTC rule on fake reviews applies to businesses in the US as well.

Who uses review codes

Restaurants, salons, auto repair shops, dentists, contractors, hotels and retail stores use review codes to build a steady stream of fresh reviews. Service businesses often add them to invoices and follow-up emails.

Make the ask personal

A short line from staff such as “If you enjoyed your visit, we’d love a review” plus the code on the counter works better than a code alone. Keep the caption short and friendly.
