STEP BY STEP

How to create a QR code for your menu

A menu QR code takes guests from the table straight to your menu. It saves reprinting every time prices change.

1

Put your menu online

Publish the menu as a page on your website, in your online ordering system or as a PDF with a permanent public link. Check it in a private browser window to make sure no login is required.

2

Design the code

Choose the Menu type, paste the link and match the colors to your restaurant. Add your logo and a caption such as “Scan for menu”. The restaurant templates give you a ready-made frame.

3

Test and print

Print a test copy and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone in evening lighting. About 1.2 to 1.6 inches (3–4 cm) is enough for table tents; window posters need a bigger code.

Online menu or PDF?

A responsive web page adapts better to small screens and is easier to read. A well-designed PDF is quick to set up but may require pinching and zooming. Keep PDFs small so they load fast on cellular data.

Real-world examples

A coffee shop puts a code on every table, a food truck sticks one next to the order window, and a brewery prints it on coasters.

Plan for changes

With a static code, the link stays fixed. Replace the file at the same address when you update the menu, or create a new code if the address changes. A dynamic QR code lets you switch the link at any time.

FAQ

Menu QR code FAQ

Can I upload my PDF menu to QR-Lizard?

No. QR-Lizard links to a menu that is already online, for example on your website, Google Drive with public sharing, or your ordering platform.

Can I change prices later?

Yes, as long as you update the menu at the same web address. If the address changes, a static code needs to be replaced.

How big should the QR code be on a table tent?

About 1.2 to 1.6 inches (3–4 cm) per side works at normal reading distance. Leave a light border around it and use a matte surface to avoid glare.

Is the menu QR code free?

Yes. Static menu QR codes are free on QR-Lizard, including your logo and print-ready formats, with no account required.

Do guests need an app?

No. Guests scan it with the regular camera app on iPhone or Android, and the menu opens in their browser. Keep a few printed menus for guests without a smartphone.
